Forget the "Dream Job". If you’re still struggling with your job search here’s how you change that.
Jobs are for learning, getting paid, and doing something kinda cool (in most cases). Don't stress about finding the perfect one right away, it’s hard and a tedious process.
Focus on a job that uses your skills and sounds interesting. Figure out the stepping stone first. A beginning.
If you’re a recent graduate then, enter the market with fewer expectations and jump onto any opportunity possible. If you’re an experienced professional looking for a new job or currently unemployed - figure out what fuels you (apart from money).
And, then begin your search.
#Starter tips:
Believe in Yourself: Job searching can be tough, but don't give up and don’t change your schedule or habits. Maybe you’ll have to change or renegotiate on your lifestyle but let’s not change who we are during the process.
Explore Different Jobs: There are many jobs out there, even ones you might not know about! Look around and see what fits. Don’t search for now, search for 2 years down the line - can they pay you? can they help you grow? can you get to places with this job?
#Action Tips:
Find Companies You Like: Research companies that seem cool and learn about what they do. Drop a LinkedIn message to an employee working there. Get first-hand feedback, and look at the revenue and the product the company is selling. Does this fit in your values? Are they building something you’ll feel excited about?
Make a Resume and Cover Letter: If you’re looking for a template reply to this email and refer a friend to subscribe to this newsletter. I will share a resume and cover letter template for free.
#Lookout tips
Get Job Alerts: Websites can tell you when new jobs you might like appear. Follow job boards and influencers who share new jobs in the market. Always be on the lookout. A company can fire you anytime - you should be prepared to pivot.
Stay Organized: Keep track of all the jobs you apply for and when you hear back. I can share a job hunt template if you need it.
