I took a break last week. Had a lot of paperwork to do. I am on my way to Germany when you receive this newsletter and I wanted to keep the topic closer to how my last 2 weeks were.
Failure.
We tend to speak less about it and no one seems to be highlighting the fact that you can not achieve anything without a little breaker.
It won’t be extreme failure but it could be something smaller like missing out on building a habit.
But have you ever thought of failure as a skill?
Like cricket (or any sport for that matter), you can get better at it with practice. This isn't something they teach in school. Right?
Think about it, those who are always top in school might find it harder to deal with failure later in life.
Because they've rarely faced it. So, if you failed early on and were embarrassed - let me be honest and tell you that your ride is going to be smoother that you expect.
And here's the thing, “failures are not full stops, they're just commas” in the story of your life.
If you don’t know it yet, here’s a system to turn failure into your next step towards success:
Write these down and practise.
Cooldown Period:
When you face a setback, take a break. Go for a walk, take deep breaths, and allow yourself to feel the frustration. But set a timer (maybe a day) and after that, it's time to move on.
Scientist Mode
Now, look at the failure like a scientist would at an experiment. What happened? Why? Don't blame, just analyze.
Action Item: Write down what happened and the possible reasons. This will help you understand what you can control and improve.
Future Vision
Imagine yourself a year from now, successful and happy. Look back and see how this failure was the turning point.
Action Item: Write a letter to your future self, describing how you overcame this failure and what you learned. This will guide your current actions.
Just Do It:
Taking action is the hardest part, but remember, it doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be done.
Action Item: Break down your goal into smaller, achievable steps. Start with the easiest one and build momentum.
Your life will change the moment you stop fearing failure and start seeing it as a stepping stone to success.
So, what are you waiting for?
Let’s get to the drawing board and start with what’s important. Let’s get ahead of the crowd and sprint to our next destination with confidence and power.
And, when you get stuck deep. I am always here to help you make a stride. Just book a call.
